Kids Enjoy Hands-On Fun At STEMfest
They were all part of STEMfest 2010, a family event that had Science, Technology, Engineering and Math – or STEM– displays, almost all of which were hands-on. The event was part of an outreach effort by the the school’s science programs to spark young people’s interest in science, technology, engineering and math well before they reach college age, according to a news release from the university. Saturday’s event was an expansion of the NIU Haunted Physics Laboratory, which had been held in the past to teach kids about the wonders of science, according to a news release announcing the event.
