2020 Community Listening

In 2020 the Science Festival Alliance worked with Daniel Aguirre to hold several listening sessions that amplified community voices. It is our hope that these sessions also serve to remind professionals that community engagement is a bedrock practice, and that it doesn't start until you set aside your own agenda in order to listen. Posted here are recordings from two sets of 2020 sessions:

• The most recent set took place in August. These Conversations in Color are described further here, and evolved directly from earlier listening sessions.
• The earliest set were held in May and June of 2020, and were intended to adjust and react to the COVID era, with special consideration for those that are on the other side of the digital divide. These sessions ended up taking place during a highly charged time of national protest and outrage. The tone and topics discussed shifted accordingly. These recordings are audio only.
