The Science Festival Alliance (SFA) is a community of informal science educators and other professionals working together to support the development of science festivals. It is the desire of the SFA to provide a broad array of digital resources to be used to connect professionals involved in science festivals, facilitate sharing of best practices among professionals involved in science festivals, and to assist in the development of festivals and festival related programs and activities. These resources will be easily accessible, useable, and available through these websites in an open source fashion whenever possible. The following terms and conditions have been developed with these principles in mind but there are limitations. Access to and use of this Web site and all other sites produced by the SFA (“the Sites”) is provided subject to the following terms and conditions.
PLEASE READ THESE TERMS CAREFULLY AS YOUR ACCESS AND USE OF THE SITES CONSTITUTES AGREEMENT TO ALL TERMS, CONDITIONS AND NOTICES CONTAINED OR REFERENCED HEREIN.
By using the Sites, you are deemed to have agreed to these terms and conditions of use. The SFA reserves the right to modify these terms at any time. You should check these terms and conditions periodically for changes. By using the Sites after we post any changes to these terms and conditions, you agree to accept those changes, whether or not you have reviewed them. If at any time you choose not to accept these terms and conditions of use, please do not use the Sites. All content on the Sites is subject to change without notice. The SFA reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to terminate your access to all or part of the Sites with or without notice. The SFA may change, suspend or discontinue all or any aspect of the Sites at any time, including the availability of any feature, database, or content (including interactive areas), without prior notice or liability.
These terms and conditions apply to your use of all of the sites and services owned or operated by the SFA. These terms and conditions do not apply to your use of those sites to which the Sites links.
It is the intention of the SFA to make its resources as accessible and usable as possible. Therefore, unless otherwise stated, all SFA resources are available under a Creative Commons Attribution-Noncommercial-Share Alike license. Unless otherwise stated, you may print, download, reproduce, distribute, publicly perform and/or publicly display all SFA resources for non-commercial, educational use provided they are credited to the SFA, NSF, and, where applicable, the organization or person who developed the resources. You may make adaptations of or modifications to SFA resources for non-commercial, educational purposes, again provided the derivative work is properly attributed and is “shared alike”—available to others under the same license that governs the original work.
The SFA’s resources are protected by copyright and trademark laws, and are the property of SFA affiliated organizations.
We encourage others to both use and adapt our resources and products. However, all products must be appropriately credited. Where applicable, this acknowledgement should follow the copyright notice. The National Science Foundation requires that an acknowledgement of support and a disclaimer appear in publications of any material, whether copyrighted or not, when the work is based on or developed under NSF-supported projects.
SFA resources and products must include the SFA and NSF logos and acknowledge both groups, with the URL (www.sciencefestivals.org) as a live link in digital environments:
“Developed for the Science Festival Alliance with funding from the National Science Foundation. Any opinions, findings, and conclusions or recommendations expressed in this report are those of the authors and do not necessarily reflect the views of the Foundation.”
Any adaptations or modifications of SFA resources and products should be credited in the following manner:
“Based on [a program, exhibit, publication, video, or material] developed by [Organization] for the Science Festival Alliance, with funding from the National Science Foundation. Any opinions, findings, and conclusions or recommendations expressed in this report are those of the authors and do not necessarily reflect the views of the Foundation”
Questions regarding acknowledgements or credits can be directed to email@example.com.
You may not reproduce, record, publish, modify, or distribute any SFA resources or products for commercial purposes. Requests by the Media for use of any image should be coordinated through firstname.lastname@example.org.

The SFA is not responsible for screening material posted by users for libel, obscenity, invasion of privacy, copyright or trademark infringement, accuracy, or for any other reason. We do, however, retain the right to modify or remove messages or other material that we, in our sole discretion, consider infringing, offensive, abusive, defamatory, obscene, stale, or otherwise unacceptable. We also reserve the right to edit materials for any other reason. Whether or not we modify or remove such material, users remain solely responsible for the content of their own messages or postings.
By submitting content to the Sites, you give (or warrant that the owner of such rights has expressly granted) the SFA the nonexclusive right to use your questions, comments, and postings, in their original or edited form, in television programs, books, articles, commentaries, or in any other medium now known or later developed.
